Welcome to Watrous Water Association, Inc. web site: Please be patient with us as we build the informational site.

As a reminder:

BOIL YOUR DRINKING WATER BEFORE USING

HIERVAN EL AGUA ANTES DE USURLA. ESTE INFORME CONTIENE INFORMACION IMPORTANTE ACERCA DE SU AGUA POTABLE, HAGA QUE ALGUIEN LO TRADUZCA PARA USTED, O HABLE CON ALGUIEN QUE ENTIENDA

The Watrous Water System may be at increased risk for microbial contamination due to surface water contamination.  We routinely monitor the conditions in the Hanky Panky Spring, and chlorinate the water distributed to the members of the Watrous Water System.

Corrective action:

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using; or use bottled water. You should use boiled or bottled water for drinking making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice.

Contaminated water inadequately treated may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms may include bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea and associated headaches.  These symptoms, however, are not only caused by drinking water, but also other factors. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice.

People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly may be at increased risk. General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from EPAs Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426 -4791.

What happened? What is being done?

PA DEP has determined that the Hanky Panky Spring is under the influence of surface water. Due to EPA’s Safe Water Act and the (PA DEP) PA Department of Environmental Protection, we must upgrade the water system to ensure there is no influx of surface water coming into the spring’s reservoir. We are working with an engineer and the PA DEP to correct this issue; until then, we must comply with the Boil Water Notices to all members of our community and to those who are utilizing the Watrous Water system.

We will keep you informed of the corrective actions being taken and when you no longer need to boil your water.
